Im blessed to have travelled around the world and lived in UK & US....it taught me survival, work experiences, sibbling wars, family matters and to appreciate other cultures.
What do i miss abt the UK?! kebabs & the chinese take outs...nothing British at all, u might think! Its a true melting pot for all cultures to meet and make a country a better place...no boundries rite? 'We are the World, We are the ones who make a brighter day'.......remember that song? I didnt enjoy the cold weather, it was miserable, wet but it was ok, u know...it was alrite. I could go dwn the street at nite to satisfy my grumbling tummy without having to look back over my shoulder.
In the US i lived in San Diego, California...life was like an episode of 'Baywatch', except that i went to college for a couple of hours a day n kept my clothes on. Weather was perfect, just perfect. Not much of a melting pot but i do get mistaken for Rosa, the chica from El Cajon (pronounced ka-hon) who crossed the border a couple years before. It was irritating as hell when i had to convince the El Cajon-ees that i wasnt being snobbish & that i had not forgotten my Mexican roots......'me, no comprende es-eyy'....tht was as far as my local dialect went.
In Diego, i had the best roomate one could have or shall i say experience my American adventure with.....hehehe. He was a Vietnamese dude named Lui....well everyone thought so, a Nacho & Glass Noodle under one roof. I shall not discuss about LUI my brother..yet, that's a whole new ball game....soon, i promise! Diego was a fun place to be, not as 'melty' as UK but i could do my groceries anytime of the day, even at 3 am in the morning, it was safe.
Now back in KL, after 9 yrs away frm home i had to adjust to :-
1) Humidity
2) Traffic
3) Slow Service
4) Moodiness
5) Stares frm people as i plc my McDonalds tray at the rubbish counter
6) Only able to buy groceries until 10pm
7) Subjected to 'caramel popcorns' only at the movies
8) Waiters/Petrol Attendents hardly understand a word you're saying
.....but i knew i'll be ok, Im home...8 yrs passed, sadly home is not the same.
Crime has risen to a maximum.....im paranoid when driving at night, especially being a lady. The place i call home are run by 'Mat Rempit's'....there was no such term when i first came back, now 'Mat Rempit' is a household name, it has definately given Mydin a run for their money. Not only we're being terrorized by humans on kapcai's while sporting superman poses...more & more innocent people are getting robbed, hurt, murdered & assaulted by foreign workers too. Our own society are not far from the insanity either i.e Nurin's case....Not recommended for futher extention of the 'Visit Year 'O8'.
A diverse country, with multiple religions & races living in harmony....full stop!! Stop there, we were fine, we did fine....adding more to the 'pot' sometimes may result to a Rotten Stew.
